without your past, you could never have arrived so wondrously and brutally, by design or some violent, exquisite happenstance

...here.

it  amazes  her  sometimes  how  immune  she’s  grown  to  the  woman’s  biting  comments  .  it  doesn’t  take  a  genius  to  see  she’s  fairly  unimpressed  when  she  tries  to  make  her  stop  offering  the  comfort  she’d  found  normal  to  provide  given  the  circumstances  —–  so  she  doesn’t  stop  .  she  continues  to  rub  smooth  circles  across  the  other’s  back  until  she’s  no  longer  tense  &  meets  her  gaze  ,  moment  in  which  her  feature  soften  instantly  .  “  well  .  you  could  blame  it  on  years  of  karma  .  or  —  “  she  sighs  ,  finally  simply  resting  her  hand  on  the  other’s  shoulder  .  “  you  can  accept  that  part  of  being  good  is  finding  the  strength  to  stay  that  way  when  everything  goes  to  crap  .  that’s  the  hardest  part  —–  but  if  anyone  can  soldier  through  ,  it’s  you  .  “

it was almost annoying to regina, the easy banter they fell into even when the topic was a bit heavy. granted, she had never really had a friend like emma before. for so long she wasn’t allowed to have friends, and once she finally obtained the freedom to do so, she harbored far too much hate and cynicism to find it at all necessary. needless to say, she was on edge, not really wanting to open up to her, but not really wanting to keep it in anymore. all she knew is that the so aptly nicknamed savior was the only one who had any faith in her, and that was more than she even deserved.

‘   i don’t believe in karma. if i did, i wouldn’t have chased your mother around for as long as i did.   ’   she raises a brow, small shrug lifting her shoulders as she looked at the blonde solemnly.   ‘   the latter isn’t my favorite option either. can we just skip the so - called ‘ crap ’ all together ?   ’   not the word she would have used, but it wasn’t incorrect.
