without your past, you could never have arrived so wondrously and brutally, by design or some violent, exquisite happenstance

...here.

she’s  not  an  easy  person  to  get  close  to  ,  that  much  she’s  known  from  day  one  .  but  over  time  ,  she’s  come  to  know  her  ,  to  see  her  walls  ,  compare  them  to  her  own   look  at  the  similarities  .  these  days  she’s  nothing  but  happy  that  she  listened  to  her  gut  when  it  came  to  her  ;  that  she  saw  the  good  in  her  ,  the  woman  she  should’ve  been  allowed  to  become  from  the  very  beginning  her  own  person  .  she didn’t  give  up  on  her  ,  on  the  hope  that  someday  she  might  see  her  as  a  friend  instead  of  a  tolerable  obstacle  between  her  &  henry  .  &  it  all  worked  out  for  the  better  .

“  good  point  .  guess  an  evil  queen  who  lets  fate  take  care  of  things  makes  for  a  less  entertaining  fairytale  ,  anyway  .  “  her  eyes  narrow  playfully  ,  not  long  before  she  offers  a  sympathetic  smile  .  “  if  being  good  was  easy  ,  they’ll  all  be  doing  it  ,  regina  —–  being  kind  in  this  world  isn’t  as  easy  as  the  alternative  &  that’s  just  the  way  things  are  .  you  just  …  gotta  choose  your  team  &  stick  with  it  .  “

‘   team   ’   was not a word that she was used to. the closest she’s ever been to a team was her and the dark one, and he was never on the same side as her. rumpel was a man that played both sides of the fence, switching whenever convenient for him. to have someone in her corner, actually on her side, was a foreign concept since her stable boy died, but it was one she looked forward to.

‘   sticking to things has never been much of a problem for me.   ’   the evil queen was infamous for taking an idea and running with it, regardless of how hopeless, infuriating,  or undeveloped the plan was.   ‘   i think i just needed to find the right team.   ’   she flashes a smirk at the blonde, a dark brow lifting as her eyes sparkle with the smallest little flash of light.   ‘   i think i finally did.   ’
